A simple simulated observation of an off-centre source

Logged on 06/30/2009 06:25:09 PM

This is basically a repeat of SSSC1 but with the LSM modified to give a source which is away from the pointing centre of the simulated Measurement Set.

Please refer to the PURR log of SSSC1 for the initial details.

Examining the LSM file below and comparing it to that of SSSC1 will reveal the positional offset for the source.

Simulating the visibilities and making an image

Logged on 06/30/2009 06:26:48 PM

We take the usual steps here to write the simulated visibilities and produce an image.

The TTU

Logged on 06/30/2009 06:27:50 PM

Fans of the Tree Time Unit (the TTU) will be thrilled to learn that this simulation only took 0.15 of a TTU, and was performed on the bus to my house. I think I would have broken the 0.1 TTU mark had I not had two delicious German beers.

Such is the power of MeqTrees.
